Enhancing driver ed experiences

Allyn Workman and Carol Hoormann received the People Saving People Award in the category of General Population for Team Excellence from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region 7 Office, in cooperation with the Missouri Law Enforcement Traffic Safety. Doug Ruediger, Missouri Law Enforcement Liaison, nominated Allyn and Carol for the award because of their outstanding efforts as health educators for the First Impact program. The program provides critical education to the parents of teen drivers, addressing the gap left by the absence of high school programs. During 2025, they delivered 71 programs to 1,226 attendees, and their participation in Arrive Alive events at area high schools reached an additional 684 people. They are receiving this award for their passion and dedication to producing safer teen drivers, an effort that successfully contributed to a 12.98% decrease in statewide teen fatalities in 2025.
